End of the Year

We will celebrate the end of the year with our annual luncheon on Thursday, May 21.  Don't forget what you are to bring.  We want this to be the best luncheon so far.  With everyone contributing it should be a fun time for all.

ACCESS scores will be in soon.  We will go over the scores with you and set goals for next year.

Congratulations to our 8th graders who willo be moving on to high school next year.

Last week of February

It's already the last week in February and spring will soon be here.  8th grade ESOL classes are reading The Pearl and have been learning about the pearling industry.  7th grade ESOL classes have written mini "How-To" books.  They have read about how comic books are created.  They practiced the concept of creating their own comic book character.  IEL students have read a legend about the Trojan Horse and will begin reading a nonfiction story about "Earthquakes".

It's a busy time in ESOL/IEL.  We will celebrate the successful completion of the ACCESS test with pizza in the near future. YUMMY!

TESTING TIME

The time has arrived.  ACCESS testing for all ESOL and IEL students is this week.  Be sure to get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast so you can do your best on the test.  Remember that once we have 100 percent completion of the test, Mrs. Hooper has promised a treat.

ESOL students should be working on THINK-TAC-TOE assignments this week.  IEL students should complete your individual work packets.

Progress reports go home on Feb. 17.

February 02, 2009

IEL classes should complete word squares for Unit 1 vocabulary.  Study these daily to prepare for you vocabulary quizzes.  You will have a quiz on 6 of the words each day (M-TH), and a test over Unit 1 on Friday.

7th & 8th grade ESOL did a great job on their Synonym Skits.  We will continue to build vocabulary through synonym study.  Keep up the good work.

ESOL classes should finish any incomplete classwork and review the chapter stories.  Chapter tests will be on Friday of this week.
