Monday, 11/30

LA - Today we held our class Spelling Bee.  On Friday Kamron will represent us in the school Bee.  Keep your reading logs updated.  They will be due 12/11, but you may turn them in early.

AC LA - Wish Haley and Jarred luck in the Spelling Bee on Friday!  Tomorrow your author letters are due and the reading logs are due on 12/7.

SS -Please finish the vocabulary for chapter 6 tonight.  Tomorrow we will dive into westward expansion!

AC SS - Finish the ch 6 vocabulary and preview the current event link below... it will be due on Friday.

Thursday, 11/19

If you haven't returned the blue progress report card to your homeroom teacher, please do so this week!

LA and AC LA - Performances of Georgia author skits will be tomorrow in the theater.  Don't forget anything you might need (props, costumes, etc)

SS and AC SS - We continued watching "12 Angry Men" and discussed the role and responsibility of average citizens in the judicial system.

Wednesday, 11/18

Progress reports went home today.  Please sign and return the blue card and the Pine Mountain Survey tomorrow!

LA - We continue to rehearse our Georgia author skits.
AC LA - Please bring any props you may need for your performance.

SS - Today we took the government benchmark test.
AC SS - Anchor packets are due tomorrow.

Tuesday, 11/17

Progress report will go home tomorrow.

LA - Students wrote scripts for their Georgia authors skits.  Bring props to class.  We will perform on Friday.
AC LA - We finished reading works by Georgia authors and got into collaborative groups to develop short plays.  We will continue to work on this through Thursday and then perform on Friday.

SS - Today was the Government test and essays.  We also completed the study guide for the benchmark test, which will be tomorrow.  Study hard!
AC SS - We took the AC version of the government test and reviewed for the benchmark.  Anchor packets are due on Thursday... don't procrastinate any more!

Monday, 11/16

Only 4 more days!!!

Progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday.

LA - Today we read stories, articles, and poems by Georgia authors and discussed ways they reflect the unique qualities of our state.  Students broke into groups to start dramatizing the writings. 
AC LA - Students began reading 11 short works by Georgia authors and answering the essential question.  We will finish this tomorrow before getting organized into performance groups.  Students may need to bring props to class to enrich their skits. 

SS - Today we reviewed the government study guide and discussed the essay topics.  The test will be tomorrow.
AC SS - After reviewing the information on the study guide, students answered two essay questions.  Tomorrow we will complete the multiple choice and fill-in portions of the test.  The anchor packet will be due on Thursday, instead of Wednesday :) to allow time to prepare for the benchmark assessment.

Friday, 11/13

LA - We finished presenting our research today.  Grades will be posted later this evening.
AC LA - Please submit your online essay :D

SS - Finish the government study guide.  The test will be on Tuesday.
AC SS - Finish the study guide, prepare responses to the essay questions, and make progress on your anchor packet.  Essays Monday, test Tuesday, anchor due Wednesday.

Thursday, 11/12

LA - Today we began presenting author research projects using digital posters.  No homework.
AC LA - We began presenting research and will continue tomorrow.  Be sure to complete the online essay before midnight on Friday!  The link is to the right.

SS - Finish the checks and balances worksheet that was started in class.
AC SS - Today we began reviewing for the government test by practicing possible essay questions.

Wednesday, 11/11

LA - Today we went to the high school to see a performance of "Oliver Twist."  Wow! What an amazing show!  Tomorrow we will begin to present our author research.
AC LA - We will present research tomorrow and Friday.  Remember that the online essay is due before midnight on Friday.  You must meet the 5/6 minimum score and you may revise up to 6 times.  The link is posted to the right.

SS - Today we had a quiz over state government and watched a video about how the electoral college originated and operates.
AC SS - Quiz grades have been updated in Pinnacle.  Keep working on your Anchor Packet!

Tuesday, 11/10

LA - Today was our last day for research in the Media Center.  All materials should have been submitted.  Tomorrow is our field trip to the high school to see "Oliver Twist" and then we will spend the remainder of the week presenting research using the digital posters.
AC LA - Use the link below to work on your online essay.  You must meet the minimum required score of 5 out of 6 and you may rewrite up to 6 times.  This assignment was started in class today.  Work on it from home and make sure the last version you wish to submit is in before Friday at midnight.  If you encounter problems or have questions, please email me.

SS - Today we turned in the juvenile justice illustrations and discussed all of the essential questions from chapters 14 and 15, which cover federal and state government.  The chapter 15 review is due tomorrow and there will be a quiz.  Please use the study guide that was passed out in class to prepare!
AC SS - Using the essential questions packet for chapters 14 and 15, write 20 multiple choice questions with 3 answer choices that could be used to evaluate the knowledge of your classmates.  There will be a quiz tomorrow.
