Tying Up Loose Ends!

Radicals Test today -  Students reviewed for the test on yesterday.  The review went very well. I was encouraged by what students remembered over the weekend.  I guess the worksheets really do help!  The multiple choice test does also have bonus questions!

Once finished, students were assigned two worksheets (front and back) focusing on Combining Like Terms and Simplifying Expressions.

CRCT THIS WEEK!

Well the time has come!  We've actually made it to the point of the year where we get to "show" what we "know".  Students will participate in the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test this week.  The MATH portion of the test will take place on Thursday, April 23rd.

Please take the time to make sure that you review what we've learned, take a few moments to log onto myskillstutor or usatestprep at home to engage in activities that will help you to remember what we've learned so far.  Remember it's IN THERE (your brain that is! lol)!

Also - students will receive progress reports on Thursday and Friday of this week.  They will look a little different from what you've received in the past...In an effort to be more GREEN, we've opted to send one progress report home with all grades on it.  Students will still need to have this signed and any additional paperwork (that accompanies it) and returned!

Let's do our LEVEL best to "CRUSH THE CRCT"!!!!!!

Welcome back from Spring Break!  I hope you had a wonderful, restful time with family and friends!

Students reviewed systems of equations using elimination and moved onto systems using SUBSTITUTION.

Remember when using the SUBSTITUTION METHOD:

1.  Solve for x or y by arranging equation in slope intercept form

2.  Substitute in for x or y!

3.  Find the missing variable!

Remember to review using substitution method notes from class and/or click on the link to review process:

Segments Cut by Parallel Lines

Students took a quiz today involving parallel lines and transversals.  I expect the progress on the quizzes to show how well the students did on this unit.

In addition to the quiz, students were also introduced to Segments Cut by Parallel Lines -  Remember to set up a proportion based on the information provided in the provided diagram.  Once the proportion is set up, solve for the missing segment.

Attached you will find tonights homework.

Parallel lines cut by a transversal (unit 6 continued....)

Students embarked upon a collaborative learning activity today.  We discussed the parallel lines cut by a transversal and the types of angles they construct.

Students were introduced to the following terms:

Supplementary Angles

Complementary Angles

Alternate Interior (INSIDE) Angles

Alternate Exterior (OUTSIDE) Angles

Vertical Angles

Corresponding Angles

Congruence

Today's activity involved identifying the different angles and finding the missing measures if given information concerning one or more of the measures.
