Weeks of March 9th and March 16th

Reading -  Continue to practice "Castles" story pages 1-12.  We will move on through the remainder of the pages and define unknown vocabualry words.  Also, be sure the students are reading 30 minutes each night.

Language Enrichment - Students will continue to work on their stories.  Your child will be coming home with a book each night to read.  Please be sure you are reading the story.

Science - We are beginning the unit on Forces this week.  Students will have homework related to the chapter we are studying.  Please be sure to check your child's agenda for daily assignments and upcoming assessments.

Language Arts - We will continue to work on Unit 3 of our Language! program.  Students will have a DOL test at the end of the week of March 9th.  Check agenda for daily assignments and assessments. 

Weeks of February 2nd and February 9th

Language Arts - We will continue to work on Language!. We are now in Unit three and will be working on Lessons 1, 2, and 3 over the next two weeks.  Please check your child's agenda for assignments and upcoming tests.

Language Enrichment - We will continue working on context clues for our daily warm-up.  Spelling lessons 9 and 10 will be reviewed over the next two weeks.  Please check your child's agenda for daily assignments and upcoming tests.

Science - Over the next two weeks students will be researching 2 elements from the Periodic Table.  Once the students complete their research they will present two posters of their elements to the class.  This will count for one quiz grade and one test grade. 

Reading -  Students will finish performing "Castaway Pines."  On Wednesday the students will take a comprehension quiz on "Castaway Pines."  We will then begin reading "Castles" for the remainder of the week and into the week of February 9th. 

Weeks of 1/6 and 1/12

Language Arts - We will continue working on Langauge! Lesson 9.  By the middle of the week of 1/12 we will move on to lesson 10.  Please check your child's agenda for daily assignments and up-coming tests.

Science - We are working on review from the Harcourt series "Properties of Matter."  Students will complete questions at the end of each lesson.  After reviewing this material we will continue on to Metals and the Period Table.  Please check your child's agenda for daily assignments and up-coming tests.

Reading - We will begin daily warm-ups on reviewing Main Idea and Context Clues.  We will begin reading "The Castaway Pines" and then "Castles."  Please check your child's agenda for daily assignments and up-coming tests.

Language Enrichment - We will be working on Spelling lessons 7 and 8.  Quizzes will be on Friday.  We will also be working on Main Idea and Context Clues.  Please check your child's agenda for up-coming tests and assignments.

Weeks of November 3rd and 10th

Language Arts - We will continue working in our Language! book.  Student will have a DOL quiz on Friday.  Check agenda for daily assignments.

Science - We will continue working on Changes in Matter.  Students will have a test on Changes in Matter before the Thanksgiving break.  Please check your child's agenda for daily assignments and test dates.

Reading 7th - We will continue reading Revolutionary War on Wednesday. Students will have vocabulary homework at the end of each chapter.  Students will also have chapter quizzes the day after completing a chapter.  Please check your child's agenda for dates of homework and quizzes.

Language Enrichment - We are currently working on vocabulary building.  Check your child's agenda for homework assignments.

Week of October 6th

Language Arts -  We will continue working on Unit 6 of our Language! book.  Please bring your books to class each day.

Science - We are begining our new unit on Physical and Chemical Changes.  Please check the agenda for homework assignments. 

Reading - We will be finishing Civil War on Sunday on Wednesday.  Students will be taking a test on Chapters 6-10 on Friday.  Look for a study guide to come home on Thursday. Students should also be reading daily.  Our first month of "Road to 750,000 words" has completed.  Let's reach that goal! 

Language Enrichment - We will be finishing Vocabulary Unit 3.  There will be a quiz on Tuesday.  Beginning Wednesday, I will begin the Basic Reading Inventory.
