6th graders are begining a castle project, which will include the use of pastels and the process of old english lettering.
7th graders are beginning a watercolor project which will demonstrate the the wet on wet technique.
8th graders are beginning a one point perspective project.
SIX MIDDLE SCHOOLS FROM WEST COBB HAVE BEEN INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIRST ANNUAL MIDDLE SCHOOL MASTERS ART EXHIBIT AT THE ART STATION-BIG SHANTY. I HAVE CHOSEN THE BEST WORK OF ABOUT 20 OF OUR STUDENTS TO BE DISPLAYED AND THEY LOOK WONDERFUL. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING, THE SHOW WILL RUN FROM MARCH 2ND UNTIL THE 19TH, WITH OUR OPENING RECEPTION BEING THE EVENING OF MARCH 5TH FROM 6:00 UNTIL 8:00. OUR STUDENTS ARE MULTI-TALENTED AND EXCEPTIONAL IN SO VERY MANY WAYS!
Everyone is invited to the Middle School Masters Exhibit which begins March 2 and goes through the 19th. It is an art show with all the best work from Pine Mountain, Awtrey, Barber, Durham, Lovinggood and Mcclure. It should prove to be wonderful!
8th graders have been working on their "when gravity fails" project, utilizing basic knowledge of one point perspective
7th graders have been creating an old English lettering project and learning about the middle ages and the printing press
6th graders have been creating treasure maps incorporating old Enlish lettering and compass roses among other elements
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN SOME REALLY INTERESTING ART WORK, THIS SITE IS INCREDIBLE!
8TH GRADERS ARE WORKING ON THEIR "ANIMAL SPIRIT" WATERCOLORS WHICH INVOLVES NOT ONLY DRAWING AND PAINTING, BUT RESEARCH INTO THE ENVIRONMENT AND CULTURE OF THEIR CHOSEN ANIMAL
7TH GRADERS ARE COMPLETING THEIR PERSONAL COLLAGES WHICH ARE BASICALLY A DIARY OF THEIR LIVES AT THIS POINT IN TIME. THEY ARE LEARNING TO USE NEW ART TOOLS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO THEM, SUCH AS EXACTO KNIVES AND THE PROPER USE OF COMPASSES, TEMPLATES AND PROTRACORS.
6TH GRADERS ARE COMPLETING THEIR NAME UTILIZING THE ART THEORIES OF DESIGN AND COMPOSITION.
